Another Bat Survey Season Completed

Another successful bat survey season for EcoNorth has finally drawn to a close.  After a slow start, requests for our surveys flooded in and kept the team very busy over the summer period throughout North East England and further afield.

The team successfully identified roosts at numerous sites and observed a wide variety of species including pipistrelles, myotis, noctule and brown-long eared bats.  The team also enjoyed ticking off some new species in the Midlands including serotine and Leisler’s.

EcoNorth staff were joined by their ever-dedicated team of fantastic subcontractors, with a range of skills and experience, all of whom had attended our bat training session earlier in the year.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their endeavours, particularly those who conducted back to back dusk/dawn surveys!

A hard earned and well deserved thank you go to Laura Linsley, Assistant Ecologist and Maria Thompson, Ecologist, for co-ordinating the ever-changing survey schedule – not a task for the faint-hearted.

If you would be interested in working with EcoNorth next season, why not attend our bat training session in Spring 2019.  More details will be available in due course so watch this space.
